How to Copy an X (Twitter) Post Link
Oct 12, 2026 · 3 min read
In short
Tap Share > Copy link on the post, or copy the address from your browser. A valid link contains /status/ followed by a long number.
Every download starts with the post link. Here is how to copy it on each device, and how to check that it's the right one.
In the X app (iPhone and Android)
- Find the post that contains the video.
- Tap the Share icon under the post.
- Tap Copy link. A short message confirms it's copied.
- Open the Twitter video downloader in your browser, tap the box and paste.
On the website (computer or mobile browser)
- Click the post's text or timestamp to open it on its own page.
- Select the whole address in the browser bar and copy it.
- Or use the Share icon and choose Copy link.
What a valid post link looks like
A post link has the account name and a long number after the word status, for example x.com/username/status/1234567890123456789. Links that start with twitter.com work the same way, and so do links with extra text after a question mark such as ?s=20. XGrokSaver only accepts links on x.com, twitter.com and grok.com.
Links that won't work
- A profile link such as x.com/username.
- A link to the X home page, a search or a list.
- A link to a post with no video.
- A link to a private or deleted post.
Quoted posts and replies
If the video is in a quoted post, open that original post and copy its own link. The link of the post that quotes it may not contain the video.
Now download it
Paste your link into the Twitter video downloader. If something goes wrong, read why a download fails. Prefer step-by-step for your phone? See the iPhone or Android guide.
