How to Download X (Twitter) Videos Without Premium
Oct 12, 2026 · 4 min read
In short
You don't need X Premium. Copy the post link, paste it into a free downloader, pick a quality and save the MP4.
X (Twitter) doesn't give every user a download button for videos. You don't need to pay for X Premium to save one. A free downloader works with just the post link.
The short answer
Open the post, copy its link and paste it into XGrokSaver. Pick a quality and save the MP4. There is no sign-up, no subscription and no limit on how many videos you can save.
Step by step
- On the post, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser.
- Open the Twitter video downloader and paste the link into the box.
- Press Download, choose a resolution from the list and save the file.
What about X's own download option?
X has offered a built-in video download feature to some paying subscribers, and what's available changes with app versions and with each creator's settings. Check X's Help Center for the current rules. If that option is missing for you or for a particular video, the link method above still works for any public post.
Why not just screen record?
- A screen recording captures the phone's status bar, notifications and controls, and re-compresses the picture.
- You get the screen's resolution, not the video's.
- You have to sit through the whole video, and any pop-up ruins the recording.
- A downloaded MP4 is the original file at its original quality.
Works on any device
The steps are the same on every device. Device-specific tips are in the iPhone guide and the Android guide. To save a GIF, see the Twitter GIF downloader.
Limits to know
Only public posts can be downloaded. Private accounts, deleted posts and restricted content can't be read. Download only what you're allowed to keep, and read is it legal to download Twitter videos? for the basics.
